AND PUKING, and dry heaves. And OMG I forget about the fucking hallucinations. Again, encourage seems too weak….if you can taper off you dont put yourself through hell. If you cant i recommend seeing your doctor. There is a pill they can give you that I SWEAR, makes is a day long thing and the damn drug is strong than the detox, and you cant drink(I tried just because, and I couldn’t drink, but hell I felt okay. Ween or the doctor, those are the sane choices.
The insane way I did over 10 times, just white knuckle OMG when is it going to end, that lasts for me over 24 hours. Again cold turkey detox is honestly just dumb and dangerous. It can kill you. If you can wait until 5 o’clock or if you can skip a few days, you might not really detox, just bit of withdrawals, and mild detox, but you will be losing what has become a big crush for you.
If you have it like I did, you need a drink first thing. If you are dry heaving for drink at 7AM or even wake up in the middle of the night, you …you need to really think about doing this alone and cold turkey, it isnt safe.
So pretty quickly the heaves start getting help. I usually just start feeling bad, dizzy, shakes and sweats. Time seems to stand deal, you are sweating and cold sweats to, you have a feeling of impending doom. At this point I doubt if you can keep anything down. Several times I would have a few beers even after I had started puking. Most all of it seemed to come up, hell it seemed like more than I put in. More than once after several hours of pure hell, I said screw it and just went to the store, lot of wasted pain, plus so on healthy. Taper off.
You will also likely start having crap float over your eyes, and later some real hallucinations kick in and that on top of your body putting out new chemicals that dance around your vision, just to make things worse on you. But if you have it bad enough you have some real one, ones that, you might really think they are real. One of the last times, the next after I was nearing the end of the worst, I still had to go look, as it seems as real as this keyboard.
If you have someone that will go WAY past that extra mile, it would be really could if they could help. Find a safe place where you can be left alone and have all you need. Cold rags help a little, a shower feels okay, but if I put my had back I would almost pass out. If you are there yet, maybe you dont have to get there. There are people all over the world that did hit bottom, or a tree.
Look you dont have to do it. Plenty of people drink heavy all their life. Some have good long lives and managed for it not to take over. Several of my friends parents were drunks. I mean these people were well thought of, and making good money, but they were drunk. If you really have a friend like that, offer them money if you can. I mean you will very likely need them.
You are likely going to go through all kinds of emotions, and you will go from a motormouth to waiting total silence in a matter of a few seconds. Their being there will also be good for safety. If you are serious and you fail a couple of times, figure out a new plan, or just decide, no more of this silly mess you are doing.
The next article I didnt write, but I think it will help some, and has some good info and links. I dont agree with the time line. In 4-6 hours I’m normally full into the bulk of above. I will have already started puking, and passing out heart racing and full blow hallucinations will start in about 12 hours into it. For me that time I pass out is the worst (and the time I would have died), and then it slowly starts to fade, but read again slowly. Everything you will feeling is still with you it will mostly start to fade.
Sadly you are highly like not to be able to go to sleep even after 24 hours. You are weak and tired and you put your body through hell and it drug you along. You will be weak and sick, and likely little pissed at yourself. You are a long ways from finished, normally after 36 hours I can get a nap or two in, maybe a tiny bite to eat. Stay calm home and safe, your body is sorting out things and it has so many things its taking from your system. The sleep will come. You will very likely need a few full days of rest just to start to feel something like you did before your crawled into the bottle. It will days weeks, if not months before you start basically sorting out who you are, and what damage you have done to your life, body and mind. It will take longer not to want a beer, not to miss drinking, the first few weeks it are tough on me. This last year is the first time I’ve got to where not drinking seemed normal.
I wish there was some finish line with a cash prize or something. Hell I had drunk friends telling me they like me better sober…hell I dont like them that much sober often came to mind. You should do it, if you have
HIT BOTTOM!
